Towards the end of the forty years of being in the wilderness, when Moses addressed the children of Israel prior to his ascending Mount Nebo to be gathered unto his people, he spoke these ten important words.

Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord. (Deuteronomy 6:4 BES)

The Lord God is one. He is integral, whole, complete. In him is no schism, no contradiction, no lack. Every aspect of his being and character is in perfect harmony.

As Moses continued speaking, he told the children of Israel what they must do with this knowledge that the Lord God is one Lord.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy mind, and with all thy soul, and all thy strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5 BES)

Jesus confirmed that we must love God with all of our being when he was asked, “which is the first commandment of all?”

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. (Mark 12:29-30 KJV)

The one true living God is above all and there is none other beside him. He is the one and only God.

So that thou shouldest know that the Lord thy God he is God, and there is none beside him. (Deuteronomy 4:35 BES)

Thus saith God the King of Israel, and the God of hosts that delivered him; I am the first, and I am hereafter: beside me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6 BES)

For I am the Lord God, and there is no other God beside me; I strengthened thee, and thou hast not known me. That they that [come] from the east and they that [come] from the west may know that there is no God but me. I am the Lord God, and there is none beside. (Isaiah 45:5-6 BES)

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that [there is] none other God but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him. (1 Corinthians 8:4-6 KJV)

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1 Timothy 2:5 KJV)

[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:4-6 KJV)

Let us praise God that he is one, that there is none beside him, and love him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
