Bearing Fruit

Galatians 5:22-23
Share or Download Galatians 5:22-23

In the parable of the sower, the good seed sown in the good ground always bears fruit. If we don’t bear fruit, the parable of the fig tree shows the vineyard dresser interceding by offering to fertilise the ground to give the fig tree the strength that it is able to bear fruit.

As we’re not trees, we fertilise the soil of our heart by abiding in the true vine, that is Jesus and the word of God. By doing so, we receive the spiritual food that strengthens us in our walk with Christ, such that, with patience, we bear fruit.

With time, we ought to bear much and varied fruit: of the harvest, the spirit, our lips, righteousness, good works. When we abide in the vine, we bear fruit, but without the vine we cannot bear any fruit.

All fruit comes from Jesus Christ, the true vine.

Let us not be as those who perish, but as those who cherish the truth, the word and the Lord Jesus Christ.
